Happy New Year!

Happy 2024!! Everybody loves to make New Year's Resolutions at the beginning of the year - to quit smoking/drinking, start going to the gym, lay off junk food, etc. But how many people actually keep up with them? It can be hard to stop things cold turkey or to actually stick to something long enough to make it a routine. Maybe instead of focusing on one thing to change, we should focus on being a happier us, whatever that may look like.


At Candle Euphoria, self-care is a pretty big deal and that's probably the easiest (and sometimes hardest) way to become a happier us. Remembering to take time for ourselves and being intentional with what we do with that time is important. Here are a few things we can do to promote self-care and well-being:


  1. Practice mindfulness - being grateful for what we have in the moment rather than focusing on what's not happening or what could be. This helps you maintain a positive attitude even in troubled times.

  2. Schedule preventative care appts for the year - early detection saves lives through keeping up with healthcare appts, physicals and screenings.

  3. Make your home more fragrant - I'm not just saying this because we own a candle company :) Our sense of smell is actually associated with how our brain processes emotions and stores memories. Different fragrances can also affect your mood. For example, citrusy scents such as lemon and grapefruit can have energizing effects whereas lavender can create a calming atmosphere.


There's a long list of things we can do to love on ourselves. These are just a few starting points. Start small, find what you enjoy, and begin to see how incorporating self-care into your lifestyle can make a difference.
